New gas, condensate reserves discovered in S. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) of Pakistan has announced that it has discovered gas and condensate reserves in the country's southern Sindh province.

In a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the leading state-owned company of Pakistan said on Friday that the discovery was made at the West Well No. 2 in the Tando Allahyar district of the province.

Italy: A hospital fire near Rome kills at least 3 and causes an emergency evacuation of all patients

ROME (AP) — A fire broke out in a hospital on Rome’s outskirts, killing at least three people and forcing the overnight evacuation of the smoke-filled facility and its nearly 200 patients, officials said Saturday.

The blaze began in the ground floor emergency room of the St. John the Evangelist hospital in Tivoli at around 11 p.m. Friday, which was a holiday in Italy. The flames spread to a few other wards, “but the smoke went everywhere,” said chief prosecutor Francesco Menditto.

Bangladesh Gets Female Firefighters For First Time

DHAKA, Dec 9 (NNN-BSS) – For the first time in the history of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), 15 female firefighters have joined the force, local media reported.

Bangladeshi Home Minister, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday welcomed the newly-appointed female firefighters at a ceremony in Dhaka, according to the Dhaka Tribune.

Those 15 women out of 2,707 applicants were selected as firefighters through preliminary screening, physical fitness, medical tests, written tests and oral examination.

Indonesia eyes visa waivers for 20 countries, including US, China, India

JAKARTA, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Indonesia is considering granting visa-free entry to nationals of 20 countries, including the United States, China, Australia, India, South Korea, Germany, Britain and France, to boost its tourism and economy, its tourism minister said on Thursday.

The government will finalise the list of countries included in the provision within one month, according to a statement.

Minister Sandiaga Uno said the president had instructed the government to consider the visa waiver as a means of boosting the economy, tourism visits and investment.
