Russian non-resource exports to exceed last year’s figures by end-2019, says Export Center

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: Russia’s non-resource and non-energy exports will exceed last year’s result of $151.4 bln by the end of 2019, Director General of the Russian Export Center (REC) Andrey Slepnev told TASS on Tuesday.

"I think that this year’s result will slightly exceed (the result of last year - TASS), we expect that considering the recent dynamics," he said, adding that in 2018 exports amounted to $151.4 bln.

"Maduro will make a working visit, there will be a one-on-one meeting with Putin tomorrow, followed by Russian-Venezuelan talks in the form of a working lunch," he said.

Kremlin urges tough response to US failure to issue visas to Russian senators

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: The United States has broken international rules by failing to issue visas to Russian senators for taking part in the UN General Assembly’s session, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Peskov has dismissed the situation as unacceptable, stressing that this demands a tough response by both Moscow and the United Nations.

Spain court approves exhumation of Franco's remains

24 September 2019; AFP: Spain's Supreme Court on Tuesday gave the green light for the government to remove the remains of Francisco Franco from a grandiose state mausoleum, rejecting an appeal against it by the late dictator's descendants.

In a unanimous ruling, the court decided "to completely reject the appeal lodged by the family in relation to Francisco Franco's exhumation," the judges wrote.

Nuclear energy too slow, too expensive to save climate: report

BUDAPEST/PARIS (Reuters) - Nuclear power is losing ground to renewables in terms of both cost and capacity as its reactors are increasingly seen as less economical and slower to reverse carbon emissions, an industry report said.

In mid-2019, new wind and solar generators competed efficiently against even existing nuclear power plants in cost terms, and grew generating capacity faster than any other power type, the annual World Nuclear Industry Status Report (WNISR) showed.

Germany, France, Italy and Malta agree on migrant disembarkation and relocation system

VALLETTA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Germany, France, Italy and Malta have agreed on how to jointly handle migrants who arrive in the Mediterranean.

A migration meeting between the four EU members was held in Malta on Monday. The meeting was mediated by the Finnish presidency of the Council of the EU. European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos was also present for the migration mini-summit.

UK Labour Party votes to stop arms trade with Israel

24 Sep 2019; MEMO: The British Labour Party yesterday voted in favour of a motion which could see Britain cease trade with Israel if it doesn’t comply with international human rights laws.

The motion, titled “Ethical Foreign Policy” was proposed by Hove Constituency Labour Party (CLP) and Birkenhead CLP, and would only come into effect if the Labour party wins the next general election and the motion is passed by parliament.
