Pakistan’s IT delegation meets over 50 Canadian IT companies in Toronto

TORONTO, June 23 (APP): The Consulate General of Pakistan, Toronto (Canada), arranged a networking event for the visiting delegation of Information Technology Companies (ITC) executives from Pakistan.

The event was attended by more than 50 executives / entrepreneurs from different ITC companies in Toronto, including representatives from the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN), and FAST-NU Alumni Association, North America (FAA-NA).

US hints at Arab progress with Israel during Biden trip

WASHINGTON, June 23 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A senior US official hinted that more Arab nations are looking to make gestures to improve relations with Israel when President Joe Biden visits the region next month.

Biden will travel from July 13 to 16 to Israel, the West Bank and to a regional meeting in Saudi Arabia, which former US president Donald Trump assiduously courted in hopes the kingdom home to Islam’s holiest sites would recognize the Jewish state.

U.S. to offer 300,000 work visas for Mexicans, Central Americans - Mexican official

MEXICO CITY, June 22 (Reuters) - The United States will announce an offer of 300,000 work visas to Mexicans and Central Americans when the Mexican president visits Washington next month, Mexico's interior minister said Wednesday.

"Every day we're talking with the American government," Interior Minister Adan Augusto Lopez said in a speech while on a visit to the border town of Tijuana, where he met business leaders. Media reported parts of his speech.

US markets stable before Fed chief addresses Congress again

NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street is poised to open higher at Thursday’s opening bell a day after the head of the Federal Reserve acknowledged that a recession is possible.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6% and futures for the S&P 500 jumped 0.8%.

Global shares are largely moving higher and oil prices are stable.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell, will address Congress again after saying Wednesday that a recession was “certainly a possibility” as the U.S. central bank tries to rein in inflation that is running at a four-decade high.

DETROIT (AP) — High gas prices have Wallace Reid looking for a new career.

Reid, who drives for Uber and Lyft in New York, fills up his Lexus at least three times a week. He pays around $95 each time, about double what he was paying last year. To make up for that, he’s driving more often, but he’s also applying for other jobs that wouldn’t require his car.

“It’s more hours, more stress,” he said. “New York City is not an easy city to work and it’s affecting our lives.”
