SANAA, Nov 11 (NNN-YPA) – The Yemeni Houthi militia, pulled 178 bodies of their fighters, from a frontline in Marib Province and moved them to mortuaries in neighbouring Dhamar Province, yesterday, medics said.

“They were killed in the past 24 hours, when fighting with Yemeni government troops, backed by the Saudi-led coalition airstrikes, on the frontline of Al-Jubah district,” one of the medics in Dhamar said.

The Houthi group usually doesn’t disclose its casualties.

ADEN, Nov 2 (Reuters) - Expecting a possible siege, pro-government forces in central Yemen are preparing to defend Marib city, their last northern stronghold, against advancing Houthi fighters bent on taking full control of one of Yemen's key energy-producing regions.

Should Marib governorate fall to the Houthis it would deal a blow to the military coalition led by Saudi Arabia that has been battling the Iran-aligned group for over six years and to United Nations-led peace efforts.

SANAA, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- At least 18 Houthi rebels were killed in an overnight airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen's central province of Marib, a Yemeni government military source said on Monday.

"The airstrike hit the rebels while they were gathering under a tree in the center of Al-Jubah district, killing the 18 on the spot," the source in Al-Jubah frontline told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported late on Sunday nine coalition airstrikes on the Houthi positions in Al-Jubah without providing further details.

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Yemen’s Houthi rebels shelled a residential neighborhood on Saturday, killing at least three children from the same family, a government official said. It was the latest attack by the Iranian-backed Houthis to leave civilian casualties.

Moammar al-Iryani, information minister of the internationally recognized government, said the Houthis fired a shell on the Camp neighborhood on the outskirts of the government-held city of Taiz.

He said at least six others were wounded, and posted graphic images showing wounded children.

ADEN, Oct 25 (NNN-YPA) – Warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition, yesterday continued bombing various sites controlled by the Houthi rebels in Yemen’s oil-rich province of Marib.

“The Houthi-held sites in Marib were heavily struck by the Saudi-led coalition warplanes, that succeeded in slowing down the rebels’ progress towards the strategic city,” the local military source said.

“The rebels partially ceased their advance on the ground, because of the heavy aerial bombardment that killed hundreds of them during the past days,” he added.

ADEN, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi movement said on Sunday it has seized new territory in the energy-rich provinces of Shabwa and Marib, gains confirmed by sources, as it presses an offensive likely to further complicate international peace efforts.

Military spokesman Yahia Sarea said Houthi forces, who are battling a coalition led by Saudi Arabia, had taken three districts in Shabwa in southern Yemen and two more in Marib, the Saudi-backed government's last northern stronghold.

ADEN, Oct 10 (Reuters) - A car bomb targeting the governor's convoy shook Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Sunday killing at least six people and wounding seven, the information minister said on Twitter.

Governor Ahmed Lamlas and agriculture minister Salem al-Suqatri, both members of a southern separatist group, survived a "terrorist assassination attempt", the state news agency said.

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Clashes between Yemeni separatists backed by the United Arab Emirates and a rival splinter group in the southern port city of Aden killed at least 10 people including four civilians Saturday, security officials said.

The fighting has taken place in Aden’s residential neighborhood of Crater, where the presidential palace and other government buildings are located, they said. It pits forces of the secessionist Southern Transitional Council against an armed religious group that was once part of the council, according to the officials.

ADEN, Sept 27 (NNN-YPA) – Heavy fighting struck various areas of Yemen’s oil-rich northern province of Marib yesterday, amid intensified airstrikes, a military official said.

“More than 28 members of the Houthi rebel group and 16 soldiers of the pro-government Yemeni forces were killed, during the past 24 hours, in Marib’s fighting,” the local military source said.

The Houthi fighters carried out simultaneous attacks against several positions controlled by the pro-government forces, in the southern and north-western areas of Marib, he said.

SANAA, Sept 26 (NNN-YPA) – Yemen’s Houthi militia, yesterday, captured new areas in southern Marib province, in central Yemen, after fierce fighting with government troops, a military source said.

“Houthi militia advanced from Harib district and captured this morning (yesterday), the Mal’aa hilltops, the adjacent valley of Om Reash and part of the main highway in the area, which leads to Al-Jubah district, and the province’s capital, Marib city,” a government military source in the city said.
