28 March 2024; MEMO: Jordan said an electricity grid inter-connection with Iraq will go into operation on Saturday, Anadolu Agency reports.

The electric line between Jordan’s Risha power station and Iraq’s Rutba station will have a capacity of 13 megawatts, Amjad Rawashdeh, head of the Jordanian National Electric Power Company, told the state news agency, Petra.

25 March 2024; MEMO: Riot police fired teargas to push back hundreds of protesters marching on the Embassy of Israel in Amman on Sunday in protest at Israel’s latest storming of hospitals in Gaza and mounting civilian deaths, Reuters has reported. The Jordanian authorities had earlier deployed riot police to disperse demonstrators gathered in Al-Kalouti Mosque in the capital who were planning to march on the heavily fortified Israeli embassy nearby.

04 March 2024; MEMO: Jordan has asked Israel to extend a water supply deal between the two countries by an additional year, according to Israeli media on Monday, Anadolu Agency reports.

The Jordanian-Israeli water agreement is set to expire in May.

According to the Israeli public broadcaster, KAN, Israel has not yet responded to the Jordanian request to extend the deal.

AMMAN, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Sunday reiterated rejection of any attempts to create conditions leading to the forced displacement of the Palestinians.

The premier made his remarks during a cabinet meeting Sunday, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

AMMAN, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Saturday that reaching an immediate ceasefire in Gaza would enable the Hamas movement to regroup its forces, Jordan's state-run Petra News Agency reported.

He made the remarks during a joint press conference in Jordan's capital Amman with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, following a meeting with foreign ministers of some Arab countries as well as a PLO official on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

AMMAN, Nov 4 (Reuters) - U.S. Special Envoy David Satterfield said on Saturday that U.S. officials had not been told that Hamas is blocking or diverting humanitarian aid flowing into the Gaza Strip amid shortages of food, medicine and fuel.

Speaking to reporters in the Jordanian capital Amman, he said that those distributing aid in Gaza had not reported aid being diverted since trucks resumed crossing the Egypt-controlled Rafah gate on Oct. 21 after diplomatic wrangling to resume the flow.
