Iran’s stockpile of uranium enriched to 60% keeps rising — IAEA chief

VIENNA, May 31. /TASS/. Iran continues to increase stockpiles of uranium that is enriched to 60%, International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi said.

He said he submitted a report on the IAEA safeguards agreement with Iran to the organization.

"You will note that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium continues to increase, including that enriched up to 60%," Grossi said in an introductory statement to the IAEA Board of Governors.

OPEC+ countries to make further oil production cuts

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Sunday that Russia will reduce its oil production by 471,000 barrels per day by the end of the second quarter of 2024.

Iran undoes slowdown in enrichment of uranium to near weapons-grade -IAEA

VIENNA, Dec 26 (Reuters) - Iran has reversed a months-long slowdown in the rate at which it is enriching uranium to up to 60% purity, close to weapons grade, the U.N. nuclear watchdog said on Tuesday.

Many diplomats believed the slowdown, which had begun by June, was the result of secret talks between the United States and Iran that led to the release of U.S. citizens held in Iran earlier this year.

Second North Korean nuclear reactor appears to be operational, IAEA says

VIENNA, Dec 22 (Reuters) - A new reactor at North Korea's Yongbyon nuclear complex appears to be operating for the first time, the U.N. nuclear watchdog and independent experts said on Thursday, which would mean an additional potential source of plutonium for nuclear weapons.

North Korea has for years used spent fuel from a 5-megawatt nuclear reactor at Yongbyon to produce plutonium for its nuclear arsenal but a telltale discharge of warm water from a larger light-water reactor suggests it is coming online, too, the International Atomic Energy Agency said.

Brazil invited to join OPEC+ from next year

VIENNA, Dec 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Major oil producer Brazil has been invited to join OPEC+ from next year, officials announced, following a meeting of the cartel to further slash production.

Brazil is among the world’s top 10 producers and has been the largest oil producer in Latin America since 2016.

Its crude production hit a record 3.7 million barrels per day in September, a near 17 percent increase from the same month last year and a 6.1 percent hike from August, according to pricing agency Argus Media.
