India: Govt calls of strategic sale of helicopter service provider Pawan Hans as winning bidder disqualified

New Delhi, Jul 3 (PTI) The government on Monday decided to call off the strategic disinvestment of Pawan Hans as the successful bidding consortium Star9 Mobility Pvt Ltd was disqualified in view of pending legal cases.

Pawan Hans is a 51:49 joint venture of the government and ONGC.

Israel to buy 25 more F-35 stealth jets in $3bn deal

02 July 2023; MEMO: Israel has approved the purchase of a third squadron of F-35 stealth fighter jets in a deal worth $3 billion, the Ministry of Defense said on Sunday, reports Reuters.

The additional 25 aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin LMT.N will bring the number of F-35s in Israel's air force to 75, the ministry said, adding that the deal will be financed through the defense aid package Israel receives from the United States.

Spain, through its EU presidency, aims to boost EU-Turkiye relations

02 July 2023; MEMO: Spain made a commitment to "promote EU-Turkiye relations with a positive agenda" as part of its presidency program, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday, reports Anadolu Agency.

According to the EU Presidency Program released by the Spanish Foreign Ministry, the country aims "to foster mutually beneficial collaborations, including the resumption of EU and Turkiye High-Level Dialogue meetings, with a constructive approach towards Turkiye."

Iran exports $19 bn of crude oil Jan-May

Tehran, IRNA – The latest data released by the Energy Information Administration of the United States (EIA) shows that Iran has exported $19 billion of crude oil in the first five months of 2023.

The EIA said in its latest report said that the total oil export of 13 OPEC members in the five months to June 2023 was $293 billion.

The EIA has estimated Iran's total oil revenue in the mentioned period at $19 billion, which is equal to 6.5% of OPEC's total oil exports in the mentioned period.

Turkish president says PKK activities in Sweden 'unacceptable'

28 June 2023; MEMO: It is "unacceptable" for Ankara that PKK supporters in Sweden organise demonstrations and recruit people and provide financial support for terror groups, the Turkish president said on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reports.

His remarks came during a phone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to a statement by the Turkish Communications Directorate.

USA: Washington's addiction to sanctions is backfiring: Washington Post

NEW YORK, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The United States' addiction to sanctions has gotten out of control and is hurting itself, reported The Washington Post earlier this month.

The Treasury Department estimated in late 2021 that it had sanctions on 9,421 organizations and individuals, a roughly 900 percent increase over the past 20 years. In 2022, the Treasury Department added 2,549 new designations while delisting only 225. That means nearly 12,000 entities were under U.S. sanctions as of the beginning of this year, said the report.

Egypt: Sisi confers India PM Modi with 'Order of Nile' during state visit

25 June 2023; MEMO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has conferred Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the country's highest state honour, the "Order of the Nile" today.  Modi who is on the second and final day of his official visit to the country arrived in Cairo where he was received by his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly.
