Yemen's Houthis say fired 7 missiles at Saudi Aramco oil site

SANAA, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi militia said they fired seven ballistic missiles toward a Saudi Aramco oil site in Saudi Arabia's southwestern city of Jizan at Thursday dawn, causing a fire.

"The attack was accurate and caused a huge fire in the site," Houthi military spokesman Yehya Sarea said in a statement aired by the group's al-Masirah TV.

"At the same time, our forces launched four drones in the direction of the Patriot anti-missile system in Jizan," he added.

Yemen reopens main airport after 6-year suspension due to al-Qaida

ADEN, Yemen, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's government has announced reopening a main airport for domestic flights in the country's southeastern province of Hadramout after being suspended for nearly six years.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Yemen said in a brief press statement on Friday that it was pleased to fully resume air navigation at Al-Rayyan International Airport located in the country's oil-rich province of Hadramout.

09 Apr 2021; MEMO: The United Nations yesterday warned of the "imminent collapse of the health situation in Yemen," stressing that tut is "untolerable."

"20.1 million people in Yemen are in need of medical assistance," United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Twitter.

It added that 51 per cent of the country's health facilities were fully functioning, noting that "67 out of 333 districts do not have doctors."

Yemen: Houthi leader warns Iran not to stop uranium enrichment

05 Apr 2021; MEMO: A leader of the Yemeni Houthi rebels, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, has called on Iran not to stop uranium enrichment before the parties to the 2015 nuclear agreement return to the deal.

"If Iran accepts to stop [uranium] enrichment before [other parties] implement the agreement, it will repeat the mistake of the previous agreement, which was not implemented despite the guarantees, and the negotiation will be linked to the [Iran] missile program later," Al-Houthi wrote on Twitter.

Yemen's Houthis claim drone strikes on Saudi capital

01 Apr 2021; MEMO: Yemen's Houthi group said today that they carried out drone strikes targeting "sensitive and important" sites in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh, Anadolu Agency reports.

"Today, the air force managed to carry out an offensive operation in the capital of the Saudi enemy, Riyadh, with four drones," the group's spokesperson, Yahya Saree, said in a statement.

He said the drones targeted "sensitive and important sites and the strike was accurate."

Top army commander killed in Yemen clashes

28 Mar 2021; MEMO: A top Yemeni commander was killed Saturday in clashes with Houthi rebels in the eastern Marib province, a military source told Anadolu Agency.

"Major General Amin Al-Waeli was killed at the Kassara front in the province on Friday evening," the source, who preferred not to be named said, adding that the commander was killed while on the battlefront northwest of Marib.

UK: Alternative to Saudi initiative is continuation of war in Yemen

27 Mar 2021; MEMO: British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Aron has conveyed that the alternative to the Saudi initiative to end the conflict in Yemen is the retention of war for several years in the future, Aram Media reported on Friday.

In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Aron called for the Houthis, who rejected the initiative, to rethink their position and take steps towards peace.
