Indian-Americans slam professor for her disparaging comments on Brahmins

Washington, Apr 16 (PTI) Leading Indian-Americans, including US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, have slammed a law professor from University of Pennsylvania for her disparaging comments about the Asian American community, with a specific disdain for Indian-Americans.

In a recent interview to Fox News, Prof Amy Wax from the University of Pennsylvania alleged that Blacks and non-Western groups have a tremendous amount of resentment and shame against western people for [their] outsized achievements and contributions.

Washington, Apr 14 (PTI) The US should help India address its defence needs so as to reduce its dependence on Russia, an influential Indian-American community leader has quoted a top Republican Senator as saying.

According to the Congressional Research Service (CRS) report, since 2010, Russia has been the source of nearly two-thirds (62 per cent) of all Indian arms imports and India has been the largest Russian arms importer, accounting for nearly one-third (32 per cent) of all Russian arms exports.

Biden approves $800M in new military assistance for Ukraine

Washington, Apr 14 (AP) In anticipation of a new Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine, President Joe Biden has approved an 800 million package of military assistance, including additional helicopters and the first provision of American artillery.

The Ukrainians also will receive armored personnel carriers, armored Humvees, naval drone vessels used in coastal defense, and gear and equipment used to protect soldiers in chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological attacks.

USA: Congress votes overwhelmingly to suspend Russia trade status, enact oil ban

Washington, Apr 8 (AP-PTI) Congress voted overwhelmingly Thursday to suspend normal trade relations with Russia and ban the importation of its oil, ratcheting up the US response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine amid reports of atrocities.

House action came after the Senate approved the two bills with 100-0 votes. The measures now go to President Joe Biden to be signed into law.
