ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (NNN-PPI) – A head-on collision between a passenger van and a mini truck, left at least 10 people dead and 20 others injured, yesterday, in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.

According to media, the van, carrying over 20 passengers, was hit by the truck, with two people aboard, coming from the opposite direction, at the Karachi-Quetta Highway in Mithari area of Sibi district of the province.

An emergency response team and local police rushed to the site to start rescue work.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan has issued sweeping orders enforcing financial sanctions against Afghanistan’s Taliban, just as the militant group is in the midst of a U.S.-led peace process in the neighboring country.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry in a statement late on Saturday said the sanctions are not new but rather are laid out in a 2015 U.N. regulations. The orders, which were issued on Tuesday, enforce the U.N. regulations and are issued routinely, the statement said. A similar order was issued in 2019.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday said Pakistan stands with international community to eliminate terrorism and commit to support to the victims of terrorism.

In his message on “International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism”, the Foreign Minister expressed solidarity with the victims of terrorism and their families.

He said for last two decades, the people of Pakistan suffered the most from terrorism and lost over 70,000 lives and suffered economic loss of over $120 billion.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (APP): UNHCR donate 5,000 non-woven 60 GSM disposable coveralls produced by Afghan refugees to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

This livelihoods initiative was led by UNHCR and its partner, Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP).

In the wake of the corona virus outbreak, the government initiated various preventive measures to contain the spread of the corona virus.

This included closing educational institutions and markets, as well as placing restrictions on mobility and implementing lock downs.

The Foreign Office in a statement called upon the global humanitarian fraternity to ensure provision of unfettered access and assistance to Kashmiri people in dire need of healthcare.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 17 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday said promoting economic and trade cooperation among member countries of South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) would help reduce poverty in the region and improve living standards of its people.

In a meeting with President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Malik, Vice President Senator Haji Ghulam Ali and Executive Member Zubair Ahmad Malik, the Foreign Minister discussed various issues of mutual interests including promotion of trade relations among SAARC countries.

RIYADH/ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan’s army chief was visiting Saudi Arabia on Monday in an effort to ease a row between the two countries over policy towards the disputed region of Kashmir.

The argument, brought on by Pakistani demands for Saudi Arabia to take a firmer line against India’s behaviour in Kashmir, has threatened Riyadh’s financial lifeline to Islamabad.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s visit was “primarily military-affairs oriented,” the Pakistani army spokesman said.
