Iran received 'gold bullion' from Venezuela in return for oil

28 Sep 2020; MEMO: Iran has obtained gold from Caracas in return for the fuel loads it sent to Venezuela, Iranian chief commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced yesterday.

Yahya Safavi explained that the gold was transferred to Tehran by “airplanes to prevent any accident during transit”.

Top Iraqi diplomat in Iran after US Embassy warning

27 Sep 2020; MEMO: Iraq’s foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning for a two-day visit of wide-ranging talks in the wake of the US warning it might close its Baghdad embassy due to threats, including from Iranian-backed militias, Anadolu Agency reports.

Iraq’s Fuad Hussein and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif discussed bilateral relations, including the implementation of agreements reached during Iraqi Prime Minister Mostafa al-Kazimi’s visit to Tehran in July.

Iranian Navy To Be Supplied With Warships, Speed Combat Vessels: Commander

TEHRAN, Sept 26 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), plans to equip its navy with oceangoing warships, capable of carrying helicopters, IRGC navy commander was quoted as saying, by Tasnim news agency yesterday.

Rear Admiral, Ali Reza Tangsiri, said that, the indigenous warships, 65 metres in length, will join the IRGC navy fleet in the near future.

Tangsiri also unveiled plans, to equip the IRGC navy with vessels, with a velocity of 94 knots per hour and powerful missile-launching ships.

Iranian president accuses U.S. of savagery after new sanctions

(Reuters) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused the United States on Saturday of “savagery” for inflicting $150 billion of damage on Iran due to sanctions, and said Iranians should direct their anger at the White House.

“With their illegal and inhuman sanctions, and terrorist actions, the Americans have inflicted 150 billion dollars of damage on the people of Iran,” Rouhani said in televised remarks, his voice shaking with anger.

“We haven’t seen such an extent of savagery ... The address for Iranian people’s curses and hatred is the White House.”

Iran says National Information Network not aiming to replace worldwide web

Tehran, Sept 26, IRNA – Iran’s National Information Network does not aim to replace the worldwide web, Head of Civil Defense Organization Brigadier-General Gholamreza Jalali said on Saturday.

“We will need a common understanding of the issue and its importance in order to be able to fully establish a National Information Network,” Jalali said.

Iran urges responsible nations to stand for Nuke-Free-World

Tehran, Sept 26, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that the Israeli stockpiles of nuclear warheads posed the biggest threat to peace and security, urging the responsible nations to stand for nuke-free-world.

"The International Day for the Total Elimination of #NuclearWeapons, provides an opportunity for the int'l community to re-emphasize on its commitment to nuke disarmament as a priority," Foreign Ministry wrote in its Twitter account on Saturday.

Trump mistook UN for US once again, Iran says

Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a tweet on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump mistook UN for US once again when he addressed the UN General Assembly.

"RealDonaldTrump mistook United Nations for the United States once again. He addressed #UN75 like a campaign rally- glorifying his failed #OnlyAmerica policy & blaming others for crises of his own making: from his disastrous handling of Covid19 to his fanning of int'l tensions," he tweeted.

Iran's president says U.S. wages "economic war" against Iran

TEHRAN, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that the United States has waged an economic war against Iran, official IRNA news agency reported.

"We're in economic war" through U.S. sanctions on Iranian financial, economic and business institutions, Rouhani was quoted as saying.

Iran is grappling with "the harshest sanctions in history imposed in blatant and gross violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international agreements," Rouhani said during his Tuesday's address to the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

Iran Ready To Swap All Prisoners With U.S.

TEHRAN, Sept 22 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said Monday that, Iran is ready for the exchange of all prisoners with the United States, Iran Press News Agency reported.

Zarif made the remarks, in a virtual address to the Council on Foreign Relations, in New York on Monday.

In Dec, 2019, Tehran and Washington exchanged two prisoners, a detained American, on spying charges, for an imprisoned Iranian researcher, for violating sanctions on Iran.

Iran to build new power plant with Russian cooperation

Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA – Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said on Tuesday that the new contractor selected by Russia for the Sirik 1400-MW power plant has also been endorsed by Iran, noting that the construction operation is expected to start within weeks.

Speaking to IRNA, Ardakanian said that Russian side finally decided to change the contractor and the new one has been conformed by Iran.

He added that the executive procedure of the project is underway.

Russian Federation has undertaken to finance the project.
