New Delhi, Sep 29 (PTI) The present security scenario along our northern frontiers is at an uneasy "no war no peace" status, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said on Tuesday, referring to the prolonged border row with China in eastern Ladakh.

In an address at a conference, Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria said the Indian Air Force has responded to the situation with rapidity and is fully resolved to counter any "misadventure" in the region.

Srinagar, Sep 28 (PTI) The investigation into an alleged fake encounter in Shopian, in which three men from Rajouri district were killed, is in the final stages, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said on Monday.

"The SSP, Shopian is himself monitoring the investigation process and further details about the case will be shared very soon. Our investigations are in the final stage," the DGP told reporters at Awantipora in Pulwama district.

Mumbai, Sep 29 (PTI) An MLA hostel in south Mumbai was evacuated after the city police received a phone call about a bomb being placed in the building, an official said on Tuesday.

However, no bomb was found after a search in the premises and the phone call turned out to be a hoax, he said.

The incident took place on Monday night when an unidentified person called the police, saying a bomb was placed inside the Akashvani MLA hostel, located near the state secretariat, the official said.

Indore, Sep 29 (PTI) Religious places have reopened in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district after nearly six months, and devotees have been asked to strictly follow all guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In an order issued late Monday evening, district Collector Manish Singh asked devotees and priests to wear masks properly covering the nose and mouth and follow the social distancing norms.

Hathras (UP), Sep 29 (PTI) A 19-year-old Dalit woman died at a Delhi hospital on Tuesday morning, days after being raped by four men here, a senior police officer said.

New Delhi, Sep 29 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the new farm laws will have to be opposed not just for farmers but for the future of the country, as he alleged that they were like a "stab in the farmers' hearts".

Interacting with a group of farmers from across the country, he said the GST and the noteban were also attacks on farmers, but these three laws will prove to be more detrimental.

Gandhi also claimed the laws will foster an East India company-like culture and this time, a "West India company" has come in.

Dehradun, Sept 29 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on those opposing the farm reform bills, saying they do not want farmers to have the freedom of selling their produce in the open market.

Without naming the Congress, he said the frustration of a party, which ruled for four generations, was at the root of this politics of opposition for opposition's sake.

The prime minister was speaking at the launch of mega projects in Uttarakhand via video conference.

Delhi; 29 Sep 2020 (UMMN): Amnesty International has stopped its Indian operation citing freezing of its bank account by the Government of India.

Amnesty International, a London based non-governmental human rights organisation, with millions of members and supporters around the world, said its bank accounts have been frozen forcing it to lay off staff in the country, and suspend all its campaign and research work.
