India: Girl raped in UP's Chitrakoot district

Chitrakoot (UP), Dec 14 (PTI) A teenage girl was allegedly gang raped in a village in the Pahadi area here, police said on Monday.

The girl, about 15 years old, was allegedly raped by two persons of her village on Sunday evening, Station House Officer (SHO), Pahadi, Shravan Kumar Singh said.

When the accused saw her uncle coming, they left the girl in a field and threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident, he said.

India: Two held for raping woman in Maha

Jalna, Dec 14 (PTI) Two men were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman at a farm in Jalna district of Maharashtra on December 11, police said.

The accused, Sudhir Suryavanshi and Shriram Bankar, had circulated the clip of the incident on social media, an official said.

"The incident occurred last Friday when the victim woman was working at a farm in Tirathpuri village in Ghansawangi tehsil of the district," she said.

India: Anti-Farm laws protest in Nashik

Nashik, Dec 14 (PTI) A protest was held here in Maharashtra on Monday in support of farmers who have been agitating at the borders of Delhi for a repeal of three agri laws.

The demonstration was held in front of the district collector's office under the aegis of the Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay Samiti (KSSS).

Besides demanding scrapping of the contentious laws, the protesters demanded that the government bring a new legislation guaranteeing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farm produce.

India: Dengue cases count in Delhi cross 1K-mark

New Delhi, Dec 14 (PTI) Over 1,000 dengue cases have been recorded in the national capital this year till date, with 338 of those being reported in November, according to official data.

The number of cases of dengue this year has been lower compared to the situation in previous years.

According to data shared on Monday by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), the nodal agency that tabulates data on vector-borne diseases for the city, 1,030 cases of dengue has been recorded in Delhi till December 12.

India: BJP to organise meetings of farmers in MP about new farm laws

Ujjain, Dec 14 (PTI) The BJP will organise meetings of farmers in various divisions of Madhya Pradesh from Tuesday to dispel "misconceptions" being spread about the Centre's three new farm laws, state Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel said.

Enacted in September, the three farm laws have been projected by the Centre as major reforms in the agriculture sector that will remove the middlemen and allow farmers to sell anywhere in the country.

India: Agitating farmers begin day-long fast, to intensify protest against farm laws

New Delhi, Dec 14 (PTI) Farmer leaders on Monday started their day-long hunger strike against the Centre's new farm laws and said protests will be held at all district headquarters later in the day, even as more people are expected to join ongoing agitation at Delhi border points.

Farmer leader Baldev Singh said, "Representatives of farmer unions have started their hunger strike at Singhu Border."

India: 9-year-old girl raped in UP's Mahoba

Mahoba (UP), Dec 13 (PTI) A 13-year-old boy has been apprehended for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district, police said on Sunday.

The girl was playing outside her home on Friday evening when the boy, who lives in the neighbourhood, took her to a nearby place on the pretext of playing with her. He allegedly raped her and fled from the spot, according to an officer.

India: PFI student wing member arrested in Kerala

New Delhi, Dec 13 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested a member of the PFI's student wing, Rauf Sharif, after he was apprehended by authorities at the Thiruvananthapuram airport in Kerala, official sources said on Sunday.

They said Sharif has been placed under arrest under sections of the Prevention of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Saturday and a Kerala court has sent him to judicial custody. The ED is expected to move for his custodial remand on Monday.
