India: Toolkit case: Cong writes to Twitter seeking suspension accounts of JP Nadda, Smriti Irani

New Delhi, May 20 (PTI) Two days after filing a police complaint in the 'Covid-19 toolkit' case, the Congress Thursday wrote to Twitter asking it to permanently suspend the accounts of BJP leaders including party chief JP Nadda and Union minister Smriti Irani for allegedly "spreading misinformation and unrest in the society".

India: BJP leader and former union minister Babagouda Patil dead

Bengaluru, May 21 (PTI) Former union minister and eminent farmer leader Babagouda Patil died at a hospital in Belagavi on Friday, family sources said.

The 76-year old leader was undergoing treatment at the KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital where he died, the sources said.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

Born on January 6, 1945 at Chikka Bagewadi in Belagavi district, Patil did his BSc at RL Science Institute in Belagavi.

India records 4,209 fatalities, 259,000 fresh cases

New Delhi, May 21 (PTI) The daily rise in coronavirus cases in India remained below 3 lakh (300,000) for the fifth consecutive day with 259,000 new cases recorded in a single day, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

With a total of 259,551 fresh cases, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases climbed to 26,031,991.

The death toll climbed to 2,91,331 with 4,209 daily deaths, the data updated at 8 am showed.

India's health ministry suggests deferment of vaccination for patients recovering from COVID-19

NEW DELHI, May 20 (Xinhua) -- India's federal health ministry has announced deferring the COVID-19 vaccination by three months in four specific situations including patients recovering from the COVID-19 infection, officials said Thursday.

The ministry said individuals with lab tests proven that they have tested positive for the virus should defer their vaccination by three months after recovery.

India's vaccine output likely to fall short of target, sources say

(Reuters) --- India's output of COVID-19 shots for August-December is likely to be lower than the government's public estimate, according to internal projections shared with Reuters by two sources.

Lower-than-expected production could delay India's plans to vaccinate all its adults this year, amid fears the country will face another surge of coronavirus infections in the winter. India's ongoing second wave, the world's worst since the pandemic began, has overwhelmed its health system. 

India: Guardians welcome UP CM's decision on school fee

Kanpur: Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big decision and has prohibited schools of all boards operating in the state from increasing the fees for the academic session 2021-22. 

This decision has been welcome by the parents. As the decision covers all the educational boards, it becomes important for the schools of other boards to reconsider their conclusion on fee.

It would not be wrong to say here that the CBSE borad schools have already issued fee book with increased fee. 

India: UP BJP leader Anil Kumar dies

Ballia (UP), May 20 (PTI) BJP leader and former MLA Anil Kumar died at a Varanasi hospital after suffering from a liver ailment, family sources said here on Thursday.

He was 59.

According to the family sources, the former MLA died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Varanasi. He was suffering from a liver ailment.

Resident of Gurgujpur (Sanvara) of the Rasra region of the district, Kumar was elected as MLA from the Rasra seat in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
