India: Police unfold elderly couples' murder mystery of Kanpur's Barra area

Kanpur: The police have unfolded the murder mystery of an elderly couple on the clues traced through the recorded CCTV footage.

Police on Tuesday arrested the daughter of an elderly couple hours after their bodies were recovered from their house in the Barra area of Kanpur.

The dead bodies of Munna Lal Uttam (62) and his wife Raj Devi (55) were found in separate rooms of their house on Tuesday morning.

Their throats slit were slit open as was reported. They were found lying in separate rooms on the ground floor of their house.

Rameswaram (TN), Jul 5 (PTI) Beleaguered Sri Lankans fleeing the crisis-hit island republic and arriving in the country continued on Tuesday as eight persons, including children, belonging to two families, landed here, unable to manage the "unlivable" conditions back home.

Prior to this, 105 persons have arrived in the country through the sea route here, with Sri Lanka being in the grip of a crippling economic crisis that has resulted in exorbitant prices of essential commodities.

India: Fact-checker Alt News co-founder Zubair produced in Sitapur court

Sitapur (UP), Jul 4 (PTI) Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair, arrested by Delhi Police last week, was produced in a court here on Monday in connection with an FIR lodged against him for allegedly calling Hindu seers "hate mongers".

Zubair was produced in the court of the Sitapur judicial magistrate, who sent him to 14 days' judicial custody.

Kanpur: Auto-tempo drivers turned the GT Road from Gol Chauraha towards Kalyanpur side as a parking and stand.

The Additional CP (Traffic) Rahul Mithai has said that If the situation does not improve within two days, action will be taken against the traffic inspector concerned.

If you are going or returning from Kalyanpur side on this road you will have to struggle through the crowd of auto-tempo drivers standing randomly on the road between Gutaya Crossing to Rawatpur Square.

India: Nervous students relaxed as CBSE delays Class 10 results

Kanpur: Sleepless nights were experienced by students who were awaiting their results for Class 10 since culmination of the exam.

Several students tried to search online their respective names among the successful candidates but they looked aggrieved with a distinct news regarding the results.

Now, we will have to be disturbed for two more days. Delay in declaration of the results remain quite disturbing, said a student.

Some examinees were not rising up as they felt worse. But their parents convinced them to be normal. There was no need to be scared. 

India: Street hawking of sacrificial goats comes into sight in Kanpur

Kanpur: A large number of traders come from the villages of the outlying districts for the sale of animals in the city.

According to the traders, Fatehpur, Kalpi, Etawah and Auraiya are the most known destinations.

They also add that animals for sale come from Rajasthan and Gujarat, though they are hesitant that it would be not possible at this festival, they are overheard saying. 

One seller Hammad had brought as many as 12 animals from nearby places. Two animals left as 8  were sold by ferrying in the narrower lanes, he disclosed.

India: Fire erupts owing to heated solar panel at KMC

A fire broke out on the first floor of Kanpur Municipal Corporation located at Motijheel here on Monday morning.

According to the news, when the solar system's panel was heated, a spark began to sprout that caught the wires into the fire. Sooner, the entire panel was burnt to ashes.

When the fire escalated, a fire broke out in the Caretaker department store located on the ground floor below the solar panels.

The KMC employees informed the Fire Brigade about the incident of fire. The fire brigade reached within 15 minutes and doused the fire in time.

India: Three arrested for spying in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jul 2 (PTI) Three people were arrested on the charge of espionage for Pakistani intelligence agencies, a top intelligence official said on Saturday.

The action was taken against three people out of the 23 suspects detained during a special drive, Operation Hifajat , conducted in border districts, including Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu districts.

India: Newborn girl sold in Odisha due to poverty

Jajpur, Jul 3 (PTI) A newborn girl, who was allegedly sold by her parents due to poverty, in Odisha's Jajpur district, has been rescued, police said.

The incident came to the fore after a child development project officer of Dasarathpur block filed a recent police complaint that Suresh Das and his wife sold the infant to a childless couple for Rs 7,000, they said.

The baby girl was rescued from Champeipal village on Friday evening and handed over to the child welfare committee, a senior police officer said.

No one has been arrested yet, he said.
