Thousands of corpses from US-led airstrikes found under Raqqa rubble

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The bodies of over 8,000 Syrians killed in bombing raids by the US-led coalition have been found in mass graves in Syria’s Raqqa after the rubble was partially cleared away, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

Brazil's Bolsonaro hesitates over proposed Jerusalem embassy move

7 Nov 2018; AFP: Brazil's president-elect Jair Bolsonaro suggested Tuesday he was prepared to make a swift U-turn over controversial plans to move the country's Israel embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Last week, Bolsonaro reiterated a campaign pledge to follow the lead of US President Donald Trump by switching the embassy from Israel's economic and technological hub to its capital.

But on Tuesday, he reeled in his plans claiming "it hasn't yet been decided."

CPI slams UP govt for renaming Faizabad

New Delhi, Nov 6 (PTI) Communist Party of India general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy Tuesday described the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to rename Faizabad district to Ayodhya as a ploy to cover up its failure in governance.

The decision, which was announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Tuesday, also reflects the "anti-Muslim" sentiments of the BJP, he said.

India: Ready to rename Ahmedabad as Karnavati: Gujarat govt

Ahmedabad (Guj), Nov 6 (PTI) Hours after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the renaming of Faizabad district as Ayodhya, the Gujarat government Tuesday said it was keen on rechristening Ahmedabad as Karnavati, if there were no legal hurdles.

Speaking to reporters in Gandhinagar, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government was willing to change Ahmedabad's name if it gets past the legal hurdles and receives required support.

India: UP CM renames Faizabad to Ayodhya

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that Faizabad district will now be known as Ayodhya.

This announcement comes three weeks after the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government renamed Allahabad as Prayagraj.

“Ayodhya is a symbol of our ‘aan, baan aur shaan’, said Adityanath.

A town named Ayodhya already exists close to Faizabad.

Journalists in UK call for action against Saudi Arabia

LONDON; 6 Nov 2018; AA: A major journalists’ union in the U.K. on Tuesday said governments across the world have economic levers, diplomatic tools and international instruments to bring the killers of Jamal Khashoggi and people who ordered it to justice.

A National Union of Journalists (NUJ) spokesperson told Anadolu Agency that the union supports the International Federation of Journalists’ call for governments to end their cooperation with the Saudi government until it "tells the truth and arrests the perpetrators".
