Cholera continues to spread in Syria

19 Sep 2022; MEMO: The Syrian Ministry of Health said that the total number of confirmed deaths by cholera in Syria has reached 14 in addition to 201 infected persons, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA).

The 14 deaths include 11 in Aleppo, two in Deir ez-Zor and one in Hasaka.

The 201 cholera cases include 153 in Aleppo alone, 21 in Hasaka, 14 in Deir ez-Zor, 10 in Lathakia, two in Damascus, and one in Homs.

US military base in Syria targeted in failed rocket attack

19 Sep 2022; MEMO: A rocket attack targeting the US military's Green Village base in northeast Syria failed to hit US or coalition forces, or any equipment, the US Central Command said, reports Reuters.

Three 107 mm rockets targeted the base on Sunday and a fourth rocket along with rocket tubes was found at the launch point, about 5 kilometers (3 miles) away, the command said in a statement.

Cholera Outbreak In Syria Still Under Control: Health Minister

DAMASCUS, Sept 18 (NNN-SANA) – Syria’s Health Minister, said yesterday that, the cholera outbreak in northern Syria is still under control.

Hasan Al-Ghabbash made the remarks, during his meeting with UN representatives and other NGOs in Syria, saying that, due to preemptive measures, the situation is still under control.

Al-Ghabbash said, the ministry has adopted a response plan, starting with securing clean water and raising awareness, in addition to activating early response teams.

Israeli strikes kill 27 Syrian soldiers in 2022: war monitor

DAMASCUS, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Israel has carried out 25 missile strikes inside Syria in 2022, killing 27 government soldiers and injuring 23 civilians, a war monitor reported Saturday.

The Israeli attacks destroyed about 73 targets, including buildings, warehouses, headquarters and vehicles, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The injured include a girl and at least three women, the Britain-based watchdog added.

Syrian FM Calls For Int’l Support, Sanctions Removal

DAMASCUS, Sept 9 (NNN-SANA) – Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal Mekdad, said yesterday that, his country deserves international support and the removal of U.S. economic sanctions.

Mekdad told a UN meeting, via a video conference from Damascus that, Syria had fought global terrorism and paid “unprecedented prices” from its human and economic resources.

The Syrian people, who have suffered immensely from the crimes committed by terrorist groups, deserve the the international community’s support, to uphold their rights to sustainable development and early recovery, he noted.

Russian Airstrikes In NW Syria Killed 120 Rebels

DAMASCUS, Sept 9 (NNN-SANA) – Russian airstrikes on positions of the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, in north-western Syria, killed 120 rebels, yesterday.

The Russian warplanes attacked a Nusra Front training camp, in the Sheikh Youssef area of Idlib province, and destroyed observation points, drones, and missile launchers, the Russian military sources in Syria were quoted as saying.

Thousands of Syrians migrated from Turkiye to Europe

09 Sep 2022; MEMO: About 25,000 Syrians have migrated from Turkiye to European Union countries over the past few months due to rising anti-refugee rhetoric in Turkiye, Turkish media reported.

TGRT said as many as 10,000 Syrians travelled legally to countries in the European Union through a resettlement project, in addition to 15,000 Syrians who travelled through other means.

Israeli raids on airport amount to a 'war crime'; Syria Foreign Ministry

07 Sep 2022; MEMO: Syria's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday it considered Israeli recent air strikes on civilian infrastructure to be a war crime, Reuters reports.

A Foreign Ministry statement specifically referred to Israeli air raids on Tuesday on Aleppo International Airport which damaged the runway and put the site out of service for the second time in a week.

Israel air attack damages Syria's Aleppo Airport

06 Sep 2022; MEMO: An Israeli air attack on Syria's Aleppo Airport on Tuesday has damaged the runway and taken it out of service, Syrian state media quoted a military source as saying, Reuters reports.

The Israel missile attack was launched from the Mediterranean Sea, west of the coastal city of Latakia, at 8:16 p.m. local time (1716 GMT), the source said.

Syrian air defences intercepted Israeli missiles, downing several of them, the Syrian state news agency, (SANA), reported earlier on Tuesday.

171 killed by explosive war remnants in Syria so far in 2022: monitor

DAMASCUS, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 171 civilians have so far been killed in 2022 by explosions of landmines and other ordnance left uncovered in previous war zones across Syria, a war monitor reported on Sunday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that 171 civilians, including 86 children, have been killed and 251 people, including 141 children, have been wounded by the explosives so far this year.
