Russia: Subsidiary for German section of Nord Stream 2 established, says project’s operator

MOSCOW, January 26. /TASS/: Nord Stream 2 AG, operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, has established a German subsidiary, Gas for Europe GmbH, for the German section of the pipeline, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Gas for Europe GmbH will become the operator of this section as an independent transport system operator in accordance with German law.

Blinken: No concessions in response to Russia on Ukraine

MOSCOW (AP) — The United States on Wednesday delivered a written response to the Kremlin’s security demands on Ukraine and NATO amid soaring tensions that Moscow is planning to invade its neighbor, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

U.S. Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan handed over the response to Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.

The U.S. hasn’t made its response public, but already has warned that Russia’s top demands are unacceptable.

Europe won’t receive Russian oil and gas, if Russia disconnected from SWIFT — senator

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/: The European countries will not be able to receive gas, oil and metals from Russia in case Russia is disconnected from the SWIFT international payment system, Nikolay Zhuravlev, Vice Speaker of the Federation Council, told TASS on Tuesday. The Federation Council is the upper house of the Russian parliament.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the UK government is discussing with the United States the possibility of disconnecting Russia from SWIFT in case of the country’s allegedly possible invasion of Ukraine.

Russia: Kremlin eyes U.S. actions over Ukraine with great concern

MOSCOW, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Russia said on Tuesday it was watching with great concern after the United States put 8,500 troops on alert to be ready to deploy to Europe in case of an escalation in the Ukraine crisis.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused Washington of fuelling tensions over Ukraine - repeating Moscow's line that the crisis is being driven by U.S. and NATO actions rather than by its own build-up of tens of thousands of troops near the Ukrainian border.

MOSCOW, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Russia is deeply concerned about recent U.S. actions that are fueling tensions around Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

"We are watching the actions of the United States with great concern," TASS news agency said, citing the spokesman.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced Monday that some 8,500 U.S. troops have been put on heightened alert for a possible deployment due to escalating tensions on the Russia-Ukraine border, with no decision on formal deployments.

Russian Health Ministry greenlights clinical tests of COVID vaccine for children

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/: Russia’s health ministry has greenlighted clinical tests of a coronavirus vaccine for children developed by the Gamaleya Center, according to the register of permits for clinical tests.

"The purpose of clinical tests is to assess the safety, acceptability and potency of Gam-COVID-Vac M, a combined vector vaccine against the coronavirus infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus in children," it reads.

Russian military cannot ignore NATO’s activity in Europe, says Kremlin

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/: NATO’s activity near Russia’s borders cannot be ignored by the Russian military, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, speaking about the participation of the Baltic Fleet’s warships in naval maneuvers.

"These actions and NATO’s increased activities near our borders cannot be ignored by our military, which is responsible for the security of our country," the Russian presidential spokesman pointed out.
