Russia’s COVID-19 case tally grows by 46,857 over past day, death toll rises by 83

MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 46,857 over the past day, while the death toll rose by 83 people, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.

Russia registered 47,093 cases and 90 deaths a day earlier, bringing the total since the outbreak of the pandemic to 19,405,923 and 384,083, respectively.

Recoveries rose by 28,223 over the past day, compared with 32,642 a day earlier, reaching a total of 18,495,961.

Russia: Extending cross flights depends on current agreements – Roscosmos

MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/: Russia will look at the implementation of current agreements with the United States before negotiating an extending the program of cross-flights to the ISS (Russian cosmonauts on US spacecraft and US astronauts on Russia’s Soyuz vehicles), Director General of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov told TASS.

"So far we are not getting ahead of ourselves, let's see how the existing agreements will be implemented," Borisov said and recalled that at the moment there is an agreement with NASA on three cross flights. The first is set to take place this fall.

Medvedev sees gas prices in Europe reaching 5,000 euros before yearend

MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/: Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev on Sunday said gas prices in Europe could reach 5,000 euros in the spot market before yearend.

"To the heads of state and government of the European Union countries. In connection with the increase of gas prices to 3,500 euros per one thousand cubic meters, I’m forced to increase the price forecast to 5,000 euros by the end of 2022. With warm regards," he said on Telegram.

MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/: The West is seeking to disregard objective historic processes, which may slow down the forming of a multipolar world but will never stop it, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Zvezda television channel, which was posted on the foreign ministry’s website on Sunday.

"Regrettably, our Western partners, who have ceded the reins of power to the United States, <…> are seeking to disregard objective historic processes, which may slow down the formation of a multipolar world but will never be able to stop it," he said.

Russia records over 47,000 new daily coronavirus cases with 90 deaths

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/: Russia registered 47,093 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Saturday. The total number of cases has reached 19,359,066.

As many as 4,354 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 over the past day, up from 3,912 the day before. Hospitalizations increased in 49 regions of the country and declined in 34 regions.

Moscow’s COVID-19 cases surged by 6,915, down from 7,602 the day before, to 3,004,574 in the past day and St. Petersburg’s cases increased by 4,214 to 1,643,570.

Ukraine’s readiness for capitulation, denazification a precondition for talks - lawmaker

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/: Russia is ready to discuss the negotiations option with Ukraine, if it capitulates, qualitatively reduces its armed forces and get denazified, says head of the Russian State Duma Committee on international affairs, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Leonid Slutsky.

"We are ready to consider a negotiations process, if the Ukrainian side is ready for an unconditional capitulation, qualitative reduction of its armed forces, as well as total, absolute and unconditional denazification," Slutsky said in a video, posted on his Telegram channel.

Putin decrees to give refugees from Donbass and Ukraine monthly payments in Russia

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/: Russian President Vladimir Putin decreed to give people evacuating to Russia from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic as well as from Ukraine monthly and one-off payments.

Certain categories of people, including disabled persons and elders above the age of 80, will be given 10,000 ($166) in monthly payments. Pregnant women will be entitled to one-off payments in a similar amount.

Russia: Moscow heat beats 1969 record, says local weather service

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/: Air temperatures in Moscow reached 30.3 Celsius on Friday, beating a record from 53 years ago, Alexander Sinenkov, a leading expert at the Phobos weather service, told TASS.

"According to data for the past 11 hours, the temperatures hit 30.3 degrees Celsius, a new record," he said.

According to Sinenkov, the previous record of 28.9 degrees Celsius was registered on August 26, 1969.
