11 injured in SW Pakistan's explosion

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Eleven people, including a leader of a religious political party, got injured in an explosion in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Thursday, police said.

The leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) was on his way to attend a political rally in Kalat district when he was attacked while passing by Mastung district of the province, the police told media.

Talking to Xinhua on condition of anonymity, police sources from Mastung said that according to initial reports, the leader Hafiz Hamdullah's vehicle was hit by a suicide bomber.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Taliban have waged a systematic assault on the freedom of Afghanistan’s people, including women and girls experiencing “immeasurably cruel” oppression, the U.N.'s human rights chief said Tuesday.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said that human rights are in a state of collapse in Afghanistan more than two years after the Taliban returned to power and stripped back institutional protections at all levels. He urged U.N. member states to help fill the void.

Pakistan says Taliban forces building 'unlawful' structure in border dispute

ISLAMABAD, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Pakistan on Monday said the Taliban administration had tried to encroach on its territory with the construction of an 'unlawful structure' and accused Afghan forces of "indiscriminate firing" in an incident that led to the closure of the main border transit point last week.

The Torkham border crossing between the neighbouring nations has been closed since Wednesday after forces from both sides exchanged fire, stranding hundreds of trucks laden with goods and thousands of travellers.

Four Soldiers, 12 Terrorists Killed In NW Pakistan Clash

ISLAMABAD, Sept 7 (NNN-APP) – Four Pakistani soldiers and 12 terrorists were killed, in a clash between government security forces and the terrorists, in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, yesterday, a military statement said.

The clash occurred in Chitral district, where a group of terrorists, equipped with the latest weapons attacked two Pakistani military posts, located closer to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, in the statement.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister claimed on Monday that U.S. military equipment left behind during the American withdrawal from Afghanistan has fallen into militant hands and ultimately made its way to the Pakistani Taliban.
