Indian Finance Minister Sitharaman meets Saudi counterpart

Washington, April 12 (PTI) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday had a meeting with her counterpart from Saudi Arabia Mohammed Aljadaan during which they discussed the global debt crisis and strengthening of the multilateral development banks, an Indian initiative under its G-20 presidency.

"H.E. Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and I discussed the #G20 agenda, and the progress made," Aljadaan said in a tweet after the meeting held on the sidelines of the annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank here.

New Delhi, Apr 11 (PTI) RJD leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav Tuesday attacked the Centre after his questioning by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, saying all this will continue till the 2024 Lok Sabha polls as the BJP-led government was "afraid" of the election.

He was questioned for about nine hours at ED's office here in the money laundering case linked to the alleged land-for-jobs scam.

India rejects China's objection to Amit Shah's visit to Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi, Apr 11 (PTI) India on Tuesday firmly rejected China's objection to Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Arunachal Pradesh and asserted that the state "was, is and will" always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said objecting to such visits does not stand to reason and will not change the reality.

New Delhi, Apr 9 (PTI) The BJP Central Election Committee (CEC) held an over three-hour meeting on Sunday to finalise the party's candidates for the Karnataka assembly polls scheduled for May 10.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, BJP president J P Nadda and other members of the CEC were joined by senior party leaders, including Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, from the state as they deliberated on the names of probable candidates.

Delhi High Court to hear Monday Sharjeel Imam's plea for bail in sedition case

New Delhi, Apr 9 (PTI) The Delhi High Court will on Monday hear a plea by JNU student Sharjeel Imam seeking bail in connection with a 2020 riots case involving allegations of sedition.

The case, which assails a January 24, 2022 order by the trial court dismissing Imam’s bail application in the matter, is listed for hearing before a bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh.

India: SC to hear on Monday batch of pleas on identification of minorities at state level

New Delhi, Apr 9 (PTI) The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday a batch of pleas seeking the identification of minorities at the state level.

A bench of justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Ahsanuddin Amanullah will take up for hearing the petitions raising various issues related to the identification of minorities, including challenging the constitutional validity of the National Minority Commission Act, 1992 and the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutes Act, 2004.

Indian PM Modi visits Delhi church on Easter

New Delhi, Apr 9 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church here on Sunday on the occasion of Easter.

An official video showed the prime minister being welcomed at the church and him greeting priests and worshippers on the holy day.

Modi later joined them as they offered prayers. He also planted a tree on the premises.
