India: I am ready to be hanged if it's proved I have threatened wrestlers: Mahavir Prasad Bishnoi

New Delhi, Apr 27 (Amanpreet Singh, PTI) Dismissing the allegation that he has threatened the sexually harassed wrestlers and their families on behalf of WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, coach Mahavir Prasad Bishnoi on Thursday said he is ready to be hanged if proved guilty.

Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia in their recent media interaction claimed that Bishnoi and the secretary general of Haryana wrestling association, Rakesh, have not only threatened the victims but also offered them bribe to "keep quiet".

India: Delhi Police registers 2 FIRs over sexual harassment allegations against BJP MP and WFI chief

New Delhi, Apr 28 (PTI) The Delhi Police Friday registered two FIRs in connection with sexual harassment allegations levelled by women wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

On the complaints received from female wrestlers, two FIRs have been registered at the Connaught Place police station, a senior police officer said.

India: Court to pass order on Manish Sisodia's bail plea on Friday

New Delhi, Apr 27 (PTI) A court here is likely to deliver on Friday its order on the bail application of former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam.

Special Judge M K Nagpal had reserved the order after hearing arguments on Sisodia's plea seeking relief claiming that his custody was no longer required for investigation.

India: SC must let legislature decide on same-sex marriage, says lawyers' body

New Delhi, Apr 24 (PTI) The coordination committee of all district court bar associations of Delhi said on Monday the issue of same-sex marriage being heard by the Supreme Court should instead be decided the legislature.

The apex court is hearing a clutch of petitions seeking legal sanction for marriage between homosexual couples.

In a resolution, the committee said the social ramifications of the ongoing proceedings before the SC are colossal and have the potential for an unintended impact on the social fabric.

Bodies of two missing Indian students recovered from lake in US

New York, Apr 23 (PTI) Bodies of two Indian students have been recovered after they went missing at a lake in the US state of Indiana, according to media reports.

Siddhant Shah, 19, and Aryan Vaidya, 20, went swimming at Monroe Lake, roughly 64 miles southwest of downtown Indianapolis, with a group of friends on April 15 but didn't resurface, the USA Today newspaper reported.

Both students attended IU’s Kelley School of Business. They were missing in the water since April 15.
