Canadian IndiGo pilot robbed near Delhi Cantt

New Delhi, Jul 15 (PTI) A Canadian employed as a pilot with IndiGo airline was allegedly robbed of over Rs 1 lakh by three men on a taxi he had boarded near Delhi Cantt area here, police said Monday.

The incident took place on the intervening night of July 12 and July 13 when Mohammad Mehdu Ghanzanfani, a captain with the airline, was waiting for his company cab, police said.

New Delhi, Jul 16 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday inaugurated the 2.85 km signal-free new RTR Flyover, and said a few more such projects will come up in the national capital before the end of his government's tenure.

The elevated corridor of Rao Tula Ram Flyover, built at a cost of Rs 205 crore on the Outer Ring Road, will help decongest the area and prove a boon for people commuting towards the IGI airport from south Delhi and Noida.

India: BJP govt insensitive towards children safety: Surjewala

New Delhi, Jul 13 (PTI) Congress accused the BJP government of complete insensitivity and apathy towards children safety Saturday and said the Supreme Court has been forced to take suo motu notice of increasing child rape cases in the country.

Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged that the BJP government's 'Beti Bachao' campaign is merely a lip service as it spends only "five paisa per girl child in the country."

Delhi govt to give ownership rights to 7,200 families allotted land under 20-point programme

New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) The Aam Aadmi Party government has decided to grant ownership rights to around 7,200 families that got agricultural land in the mid-70s under a programme for landless people.

Under the "20-point programme", launched during former prime minister Indira Gandhi's tenure in 1975-76, around 12,500 landless families in Delhi got land for cultivation, according to officials.

Indian Supreme Court takes note of "alarming rise" in child rapes

New Delhi, Jul 12 (PTI) The Supreme Court Friday took note, on its own, of the "alarming rise" in the number of rape incidents against children and said it will pass directions to ensure a "concerted" and "clear" national response against such acts.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said it has decided to take "suo motu" (on its own) cognisance of various reports of news papers and portals on rising incidents of child rape.

India: CBI books former Arunachal CM Nabam Tuki

New Delhi, Jul 12 (PTI) The CBI has booked former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki for alleged corruption in awarding contracts worth Rs 3.20 crore for a government project in 2003, officials said Friday.

The agency has alleged that Tuki, then minister of consumer affairs and civil supplies in Arunachal Pradesh, had colluded with his brother Nabam Tagam to siphon off illegal gratification received for the contracts given to develop two parking places in Nirjulee and Naharlagun in the state worth Rs 61.43 lakh and Rs 2.60 crore.

India, Russia hold talks to boost space cooperation

New Delhi, Jul 12 (PTI) India and Russia held high-level talks here to elevate bilateral cooperation to the next level in the field of space, including assistance in India's maiden human space flight mission 'Gaganyaan', according to Ministry of External Affairs.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Russia's space agency ROSCOSMOS, led the two sides in the meeting held Thursday.

India: Four new courses introduced by JMI, Delhi

New Delhi, Jul 11 (PTI) The Jamia Millia Islamia Thursday introduced four new courses under Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP).

The courses will be run by the varsity's Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and have been introduced in collaboration with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
