Over 330 Families Receive Solar Panels In Afghanistan’s Eastern Parwan Province

CHARIKAR, Afghanistan Oct 24 (NNN-BIA) – A total of 336 households have received solar power panels over the past four days, in the eastern Parwan province, it was reported, yesterday.

“After a precise survey, each family received one solar panel along with all equipment to keep their houses bright, in Bagaram district of the parwan province,” the news agency said.

Some 500,000 Afghans receive health assistance this year: migration agency

KABUL, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Friday it has been providing essential health services to people on the move and hard-to-reach Afghans while supporting the country to prevent the health-care system from a breakdown.

The agency said in a release on its website that "IOM has stood on the front lines of the UN's COVID-19 response in the country, with presence currently across four border provinces: Herat, Nimroz, Kandahar and Nangarhar."

Pakistani FM arrives in Afghanistan

KABUL, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrived in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Thursday, local television channel TOLONews reported in its news bulletin.

Heading a ranking delegation, Qureshi during his stay in Kabul would hold talks with Afghanistan leaders, the media outlet added.

This is Qureshi's first visit to Kabul since Afghanistan's takeover by the Taliban in mid-August.

In Kabul clinic, Taliban and the soldiers they fought confront wounds of war

KABUL, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Former Taliban fighter Mohammad Ishaq, who spent years battling Western troops and local forces in Afghanistan, lost his leg in combat and is now learning to walk with a new limb. Standing near him at a Kabul clinic is one of the soldiers he defeated.

In the Red Cross Hospital in Kabul, Ishaq spoke simply of the eight years he spent in Helmand, the southern province where some of the fiercest fighting of the war took place and where thousands of civilians and combatants were killed and maimed.

Road accident kills 5 in Afghanistan

MAHMUD-E-RAQI, Afghanistan, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Five commuters lost their lives as their car turned turtle in eastern Kapisa province of Afghanistan on Saturday, a local official said Sunday.

According to the official who declined to be named, the five commuters were killed and another was injured when their car plunged into a ravine and turned upside down due to careless driving in Shikhan Daraghous of Nijrab district Saturday evening.

Villagers have also confirmed the accident, saying the commuters were all Afghans who were sightseeing in the area.

Taliban pledge to step up security as Shi'ite victims buried in Afghanistan

KABUL, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Taliban authorities pledged to step up security at Shi'ite mosques as hundreds of people gathered on Saturday to bury the victims of the second Islamic State suicide attack on worshippers in a week.

Hardline Sunni group Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack on the Fatima mosque in Kandahar that saw a group of suicide bombers shoot their way into the mosque before blowing themselves up among the worshippers during Friday prayers.

Death toll of Afghanistan's mosque explosions soars to 32: report

KABUL, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from suicide explosions inside a mosque in Kandahar city, capital of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province, has risen to 32, while 68 others were wounded, the state-run news agency said on Friday.

According to local media Bakhtar News Agency, the explosions occurred inside a Shiite Muslim mosque building at midday when hundreds of worshippers were offering Friday prayers.

At least four assailants were reportedly involved in the deadly attacks.

Blast kills 16 in Afghanistan's Kandahar

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- At least 16 people lost their lives and 32 others were injured in a blast that targeted a mosque in Kandahar city, capital of southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province on Friday, local media reported.

The explosion targeted the Imam Barga mosque of Shiite Muslims, causing heavy casualties, Tolo news channel quoted eyewitnesses as saying.

Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Qari Sayed Khosti has confirmed the blast without giving details.

Taliban Says Talks With U.S. To Continue If Necessary

KABUL, Oct 11 (NNN-ANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the caretaker government in Afghansitan, said today that, talks with the United States will continue, if necessary.

Over the weekend, a Taliban delegation, led by Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of the caretaker government, met with a U.S. interagency delegation in Doha, Qatar.
