MAHMUD-E-RAQI, Afghanistan, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Five commuters lost their lives as their car turned turtle in eastern Kapisa province of Afghanistan on Saturday, a local official said Sunday.

According to the official who declined to be named, the five commuters were killed and another was injured when their car plunged into a ravine and turned upside down due to careless driving in Shikhan Daraghous of Nijrab district Saturday evening.

Villagers have also confirmed the accident, saying the commuters were all Afghans who were sightseeing in the area.

Since the takeover of power by the Taliban in mid-August, which ended a war and restored a relatively peaceful environment in Afghanistan, the Afghans have had less fear to travel around in the country.
