China-donated rice distributed to needy families in north Afghanistan

SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- More than 100 families received China-donated rice in the Darzab district of north Afghanistan's Jawzjan province on Sunday, provincial director for national disaster authority Sarajudin Saraj said Monday.

Each needy family received a sack of 25 kg of rice donated by China, the official said.

Saraj added that a sack of 50 kg of flour and 2 kg of beans provided by other nations were also given to each needy family in the district.

China-donated quake relief supplies arrive in Afghanistan

HERAT, Afghanistan, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The first batch of earthquake relief supplies donated by the Chinese government arrived at Afghanistan's Herat International Airport on Sunday morning and was handed over to the Afghan side.

Relief materials, including tents and rollaway beds, were unloaded from two Chinese cargo planes at the airport.

Massive ammunition depot found in Afghan capital Kabul

26 September 2023; MEMO: A massive ammunition depot was found in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, the Taliban claimed on Tuesday, Anadolu Agency reports.

Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for Kabul police, said that a huge cache of heavy and light weapons and ammunition was recovered during the construction of a road in Kabul.

An old weapons depot was discovered during the construction of a road in Kabul city, Zadran wrote on X.

Police Destroy Hashish Farms In Eastern Afghanistan

KABUL, Sept 19 (NNN-ANA) – Police have smashed hashish farms in the eastern Afghanistan’s Panjshir province, and asked farmers to avoid cultivation of illegal crops including poppy and hashish, provincial police said, in a statement today.

The counter-narcotics police launched operations against illegal crops and destroyed six acres of hashish farm in Parian district of the province yesterday, according to the statement.

In a similar operation against illegal crops, police smashed a hashish farm in the northern Samangan province on Sunday.

Road crashes kill 4, injure 19 in Afghanistan

KABUL, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Four commuters lost their lives and 19 others sustained injury in two road accidents in Afghanistan, officials said on Friday.

In the first crash which occurred in Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province late Thursday night, three travelers including two children were killed and 11 others injured, some in critical condition, provincial police spokesman Hafiz Sabir said.

The official blamed reckless driving for the accident, saying irresponsible driving often claims the lives of innocent commuters in the province.

12 Illegally-Excavated Relics Handed Over To Afghan National Museum

SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, Sept 7 (NNN-ANAL) – A total of 12 items of antiquities found in Faizabad district of Jawzjan province, were handed over to the National Museum of Afghanistan by the department of information and culture of Jawzjan, Saifuddin Moatasim, the department’s director, said today.

These items were obtained by local people of Mozian village of Faizabad district, through illegal excavation, Moatasim said.

Moatasim said that, the items include small and large pieces of pottery, two columns, and some objects related to the Bronze Age.

Islamic World Wants Stability In Afghanistan: OIC

KABUL, Sept 4 (NNN-ANA) – A delegation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), recently visited Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, with attendance of scholars from the Islamic countries, local media reported.

According to TOLOnews, the delegation had discussions with Afghan authorities, on essential issues such as moderation in Islam, women’s education, and women’s participation in different jobs.
