Ukrainian rocket strike near Makeyevka in DPR kills 63 Russian servicemen – top brass

MOSCOW, January 2. /TASS/: A Ukrainian rocket strike from the HIMARS multiple rocket launcher left 63 Russian servicemen killed in Makeyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russia’s Defense Ministry told reporters on Monday.

"The Kiev regime delivered a strike firing six projectiles from the US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher on a Russian unit near Makeyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The attack <…> left 63 Russian service members killed," the top brass said in a report.

Russia risks causing IT worker flight with remote working law

MOSCOW, Jan 2 (Reuters) - Russia's buffetted IT sector risks losing more workers in the new year because of planned legislation on remote working, as authorities try to lure back some of the tens of thousands who have gone abroad without prompting them to cut ties completely.

Having relatively portable jobs, IT workers featured prominently among the many Russians who fled after Moscow sent its army into Ukraine on Feb. 24 and the hundreds of thousands who followed when a military call-up began in September.

Kyrgyzstan to chair CIS in 2023

MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/: In 2023, Kazakhstan is passing the chairmanship of the CIS to Kyrgyzstan.

The republic’s President Sadyr Japarov vowed that, as chairman, his country will pay special attention to bolstering good-neighborly relations and trust between CIS member states.

The decision on Bishkek’s chairmanship was made on October 14 at a CIS summit in Astana. Russia and Kazakhstan will be co-chairing.

Russian cosmonauts make traditional salad to celebrate New Year aboard ISS

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION, January 1. /TASS/: The members of the International Space Station (ISS) crew celebrated the New Year with a cake and a space-version of a traditional Russian salad, TASS special correspondent and Roscosmos cosmonaut Dmitry Petelin reported.

According to him, Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev, Anna Kikina and himself made the Olivier salad, a traditional Russian New Year's dish also known as the Russian salad. However, the crew had run out of green peas that had to be replaced with corn.

Russian army hits Ukraine’s combat drone production sites on Dec 31

MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/: The Russian Armed Forces carried out a high-precision strike on Ukrainian defense industry sites involved in the production of combat drones on December 31, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said on Sunday.

"On December 31, 2022, the Russian Armed Forces employed long-range high-precision air-launched weapons to target Ukrainian defense industry facilities involved in the production of combat unmanned aerial vehicles that are used to carry out terrorist attacks on Russia," he noted.

Russia approves list of instructions on development of unmanned aerial vehicles

31 Dec 2022; AA: Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a set of guidelines on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles, the Kremlin announced on Saturday.

“Vladimir Putin approved a list of instructions on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles,” the Kremlin said on Telegram.

“In particular, the Government was instructed to approve priority areas and a development strategy for unmanned aviation for the period up to 2030 and until 2035,” the statement added.
