Malaysia Does Not Recognise US Unilateral Sanctions – PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (NNN-Bernama) — The Malaysian Government does not recognise any unilateral decision made by any country, including the United States, to impose sanctions against individuals, agencies or countries supporting Hamas, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

Instead, he said Malaysia only recognises decisions made by the United Nations (UN) that are multilateral in nature.

“We do not agree with the decision made by the United States and it will not influence our policies and decisions,” he said during Minister’s Question Time at the Parliament sitting.

DJAMENA, Nov 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Chad says it has recalled its Chargé d’Affaires in Israel for consultation over “unprecedented deadly violence in the Gaza Strip”.

In a statement from the country’s foreign affairs ministry, the government condemned “the loss of human lives of many innocent civilians” and called “for a ceasefire leading to a lasting solution to the Palestinian question”.

In 1972, Chad, a Muslim-majority country severed its diplomatic relations with Israel but later revived ties in 2019.

G7 foreign ministers kick off two days of meetings in Japan

Brexit leaves UK-EU trade unscathed: IEA report

LONDON, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The United Kingdom's (UK) departure from the European Union (EU) has not damaged trade between the country and the region, the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) said in a report published on Monday.

"The UK's trade patterns with the EU fail to show a Brexit effect, either since the referendum or at the end of the transition period," it said.

The UK's goods exports rose by 13.5 percent to EU countries and 14.3 percent to non-EU countries between 2019 and 2022, before and after Brexit, indicating no impact of Brexit on goods trade.

(AP) --- Federal health officials are expanding an investigation into potentially lead-tainted pouches of apple cinnamon fruit puree marketed for children amid reports of more illnesses and additional product recalls.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Friday it has received reports of seven illnesses in at least five states possibly linked to contaminated puree.
