Russia: Period of West-dominated world is ending: Putin

MOSCOW, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The historical period of boundless Western domination in world affairs is coming to an end and the unipolar world is becoming the past, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

The West aims to maintain hegemony on global economy and politics with so-called "rules" they created, Putin said at the plenary session of the 19th meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club in the Moscow region on Thursday.

However, as soon as non-Western states, including Asian countries, began to benefit from globalization, the West immediately changed or fully abolished many of those rules, he stressed.

The West is unable to rule humanity single-handedly despite their attempts to do so and "the majority of nations no longer want to put up with this," Putin said.

Speaking about the possibility of using nuclear weapons, Putin said that Russia had never proactively talked about this.

The Western countries are using today's "fuss" over the possible use of nuclear weapons to add pressure on Russia's friends and neutral countries to undermine their cooperation with Moscow, Putin added.
