Pakistan extends condolences on loss of lives in Egypt's tragic road accident

ISLAMABAD, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The government and people of Pakistan extended heartfelt condolences to the Egyptian government and people on the loss of lives and injuries to many in a tragic road accident in southern Egypt, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.

"We express the deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured," the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

At least 22 people were killed and 33 others injured earlier in the day in a bus-truck accident, 200 km away from Cairo, on the desert road of Minya Province in southern Egypt.

"A passenger bus traveling to Cairo from the southern Province of Sohag crashed into the back of a truck parking on the side of the road for changing its tyres," Governor Osama Al Qady told Xinhua.

"Pakistan stands in solidarity with the fraternal people and government of Egypt in this moment of grief," said the foreign ministry.
