India: Police inspector suspended as his video beating a man went viral

UP police beating man with child

Kanpur: Inspector Vinod Kumar Mishra was suspended after a video of him mercilessly thrashing a man holding his child went viral.

In the video, it can be seen that the person being thrashed was repeatedly requesting the police that the child would be hit and might even die.

Yet the policeman was not ready to accept his words. It was reported that the UP Police received severe flak after the video went viral on social media.

Mishra was suspended by the ADG of Kanpur zone.

After the incident came to light, the police, in their defence, said that the person being thrashed in the video and his brother were creating chaos in a hospital.

BJP MP Varun Gandhi also put forward the matter. He in his tweet said that a strong law and order is needed to ensure justice for the weak.

"A strong law and order system should evoke fear of law, not of the police," he said.

The police had allegedly lathi-charged on protesters at a hospital.

The hospital employees were protesting against the ongoing excavation next to the premises as dust and dirt were blown into the hospital.

The man was purportedly thrashed during this lathi-charge.

An employee, Rajneesh, was even taken to the police station.

SDM Vagish Shukla alleged that the employees were protesting at the hospital since morning.

The gates were closed. The SDM, however, said that there was no lathi-charge.

The hospital administration alleged that the employees had issues with the patients.

According to the police, the protesters were asked to disperse but things did not work out, and thus they resorted to lathi-charge.
