Saudi, UK Military Chiefs Hold First Bilateral Military Cooperation Committee Meeting

LONDON, Jul 8 (NNN-SPA) – Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff, Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, met yesterday with the British Chief of Defence Staff, General, Nick Carter, during the inaugural meeting of the bilateral military cooperation committee.

During the meeting, strategic relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed. They also discussed bilateral military cooperation and common challenges facing Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

Earlier this week, military chiefs of the two countries met during an annual meeting of the Dragon Group.

The Dragon Group, named after its first meeting aboard HMS Dragon, in 2018, comprises Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, and the United Kingdom.

The meeting discussed means of achieving joint military coordination and defence cooperation, between the participating countries, to tackle different challenges and threats through adapting a common approach, contributing to counter-terrorism, anti-piracy and counter-smuggling operations, in order to preserve the security and stability of the region.
