India: Bus & rly stations remain desolate in passengers' absence

Kanpur: A pall of stillness pervades at the city's highly busy bus and railway stations. If the roadways buses are standing at the depot, the trains are being cancelled in absence of passengers.

Lockdown has restricted people's movement that reduces the load on means of travelling to a greater degree.

It is clear through the present figure of three or four thousand passengers travelling daily by train at present while it used to be about three lakh daily in normal days. According to railways officers, Shram Shakti Express running from the city for New Delhi remains almost empty of passengers. It can be closed any day.

As regards the bus journey, the buses are also not finding passengers. On route to eastern districts in the state, a load of passengers keeps the movement of buses.
