KANPUR: The banned currency notes were laying in the thick shrubs of the Sanjay Van in Kidwai Nagar area on Thursday. The notes were thrown on the ground in the polythene packets. The daily morning walkers were too surprised to find wads of abandoned banned currency notes while strolling in the gardens.
Just as the people’s gaze fell upon the fake currency notes they pounced upon collecting as much as they could grab. They stepped forward on too many times towards the shrubs and picked up the currency notes into their dry but sweaty hands. The sooner they got the currency the quicker they moved away with the ill-gotten gains from the spot.
None cared to inform the police about the matter. In stories, we read about soaring golden mohars but in actuality, there was a different experience for the denizens. A large number of bogus currency notes in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 were left amidst the shrubs.
It was not the first time the abandoned currency notes were found in the city. In previous days also, the banned currency notes were found on the roads in the city’s various areas. Currency notes worth Rs 15000 were found around Ganga Barrage, Rs 8000 from Sharda Nagar crossing, Rs 10,000 near Naubasta area was found prior to the latest finding.
One area resident stated that everyone was seen tiring hard in lifting the thrown away banned currency notes. Everyone was busy lifting the counterfeit money. He confidently told that it was actually straight truth and not half skewed.
He maintained that he also lightened his footsteps as he walked upon the thick bush. His eyes did a three-sixty scan of the space. He thus succeeded in picking up currency notes totalling nearly Rs 35000. He felt satisfaction at it. It was unlike anything he’d ever done before. There was some peculiar feeling here, he added.
