India’s COVID-19 Tally Rises To 10,746,183, With 13,052 New Cases

NEW DELHI, Jan 31 (NNN-PTI) – India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 10,746,183 today, as 13,052 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 154,274, as 127 patients died since yesterday morning.

There are still 168,784 active cases in the country, while 10,423,125 people have been discharged from hospitals after treatment.

The nationwide vaccination drive kicked off on Jan 16, and more than 3.7 million people, mainly health workers, have been vaccinated.

According to the federal health ministry, as many as 71 adverse events, following immunisation (AEFIs) were reported through yesterday.

Meanwhile, the federal government ramped up testing facilities across the country, as over 196 million tests have been conducted so far.

As many as 196,588,372 tests were conducted till yesterday, out of which 750,964 tests were conducted yesterday alone, showed the latest data, issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), today.

The national capital Delhi, one of the most COVID-19 affected places in the country, has been witnessing comparatively fewer cases over the past few months. Only 183 new cases and eight deaths were registered in the national capital through yesterday.

So far 10,849 people have died in the national capital, confirmed Delhi’s health department.

Two types of vaccines are being administered to the people in India. While the Covishield vaccine, made by the Serum Institute of India (SII) was supplied to all states, the Covaxin vaccine from the “Bharat Biotech International Limited” was supplied to only 12 states.
