Kanpur: Cleaning of the polluted rivers is a big challenge these days. The National Green Tribunal is bent upon improving the poor health of the much-talked Pandu river originating from a lake in Farrukhabad.
Completing its 120-Km long journey through this industrial city it merges directly into the Ganges at Fatehpur district.
Greenish Pandu river requires a check on the free flow of the four drains carrying polluted, contaminated water into its depth.
It has been reported that as many as ten crore litres of contaminated water goes into the stream that harms the purity of the river's water.
To purify the small river, the Kanpur Municipal Corporation has reportedly come forward with a plan of spending at least an amount as big as Rs 2 crore, as reported.
Bioremediation process can treat the dirty polluted water of four nullahs water falling into the river. Even the KMC's executive engineer RK Gupta has indicated of cleaning the river through this very method.
The four drains are Rafaqa nullah, ICICI nullah, Halwa Khera Nullah and one more, as was reported.
