Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah

KUWAIT CITY, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Preventive diplomacy helps stop the eruption of disputes and conflicts, and enhance dialogue and mediation amongst countries, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, said on Sunday.

He made the remarks at a ceremony held by the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Representative and Resident Coordinator to Kuwait Tareq Al-Sheikh in Hawalli Governorate.

Since attaining membership of the UN in 1963, Kuwait has been keen on partaking effectively in the UN's activities and events, the minister said.

Throughout its current non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council and in support of other members, Kuwait has highlighted those affected by the ongoing humanitarian disasters all over the world, he said.
