German killer nurse sentenced to life for murdering 97 patients

6 June 2019; DW: Serial killer and former nurse Niels Högel was sentenced Thursday to life in prison for the murder of 85 patients.

Högel was originally accused of having murdered 100 patients while on duty as a nurse from June 1999 until 2005. The victims, people of all ages and backgrounds, some in bad health and others on the mend, had trusted the medical centers in Lower Saxony where Högel worked with their lives.

London hosts major anti-Trump protest

London, June 5; GANASHAKTI: Large crowds gathered in Trafalgar Square in central London on Tuesday to protest against US President Donald Trump's state visit to the United Kingdom.

EU suggests infringement procedure against Italy on debt

ROME, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission suggested to open a disciplinary action against Italy for not sticking to a promised path of debt reduction, major Italian media reported on Wednesday.

An excessive deficit procedure against Italy was justified, according to the European Union (EU) executive body, because of "Italy's non-compliance with the EU's debt rule in 2018," said Ansa news agency reporting from Brussels.

Besides, the Commission added it would not expect Italy to comply with such rule in 2019-2020 neither.

Indian who fled UK after sexual attack jailed for rape in Britian

London, Jun 5 (PTI) An Indian man, who fled to India in 2017 after a sexual assault on a woman in the UK, has been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for the rape.

Ajay Rana, 35, was found guilty of raping the woman in the back of his housemate's car in the town of Lowestoft in Suffolk, eastern England, after offering her a lift on December, 9, 2017.
