Mexican airline to continue using Russia’s SSJ-100 aircraft — VEB.RF

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/: Russia and Mexico agreed that Mexican air carrier Interjet would continue using Russia’s SSJ-100 aircraft, Chief Executive Officer of VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov has said.

"We carried our negotiations and agreed that no harsh measures will be taken by each party. They [SSJ-100 aircraft] are now in use," Shuvalov told the Vesti On Saturday with Sergei Brilev news program on Rossiya’1 channel. "We will now look into ways of a smooth solution to this situation, on how to keep afloat the air carrier, which is a major company."

Notion Britain could ask an EU member to veto Brexit extension is 'tittle-tattle': UK minister

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain’s housing minister Robert Jenrick said speculation that the government could ask another EU member state to veto a request to extend Article 50 to ensure Brexit happened on Oct. 31 was “tittle-tattle”.

“I have not heard any serious talk of that beyond the speculation that I have seen in the papers, so I think that, with all due respect, is just tittle-tattle,” he said on Sky News’ Sophie Ridge on Sunday program.

 

Irish PM says seeking to meet UK's Johnson on Brexit next week

DUBLIN (Reuters) - Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar is seeking a meeting with his British counterpart Boris Johnson next week, stressing on Saturday that time was tight for London to go further with the fresh Brexit proposals it presented this week.

Russia sends note of protest to U.S. over FBI questioning of MP

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Russian embassy in the United States has sent a note of protest to the U.S. State Department over FBI questioning of a Russian lawmaker in a New York airport overnight.

Russian deputy Inga Yumasheva was questioned for an hour by the FBI upon arrival in New York, the Russian embassy said in a statement posted here on its Facebook page. It did not specify which airport she arrived at.

Finnish PM tells British PM to find Brexit solution within one week

HELSINKI, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Answering a phone call from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday, Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne told his counterpart that it would be important to find a solution on Brexit within a week.

According to a press release from the Finnish government, the two prime ministers talked about Brexit situation and the ongoing negotiations between the UK and European Union (EU) on the subject.

EU presses UK to resubmit Brexit plan as end-game looms

BRUSSELS, Oct 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson started phoning EU leaders Saturday to sell his proposals for a managed Brexit, but he met with pressure to revise his offer — and to do so quickly.

Finnish counterpart Antti Rinne — whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union — said he told Johnson “it is important to find a solution within a week”.

“Johnson said he agreed with the timetable,” Rinne added.
