ULAN BATOR, Jan 2 (NNN-APA) – Mongolia’s central bank said today, it had purchased a total of 17.8 tonnes of gold in 2023, from legal entities and individuals.
Purchasing gold is one of the key ways for the central bank to ensure the country’s economic stability, according to the Bank of Mongolia.
A statement revealed that, at the close of 2023, Mongolia’s foreign exchange reserves reached 4.8 billion U.S. dollars, marking a rise of 1.4 billion dollars from the end of 2022.
ULAN BATOR, Dec.14 (Xinhua) -- Russia will not reduce its electricity supply to Mongolia in the near future, said the Mongolian government's press office on Thursday.
"The Russian side said that it will not limit the supply of electricity in the near future. The inter-governmental commission of the two countries will continue to work on the issue," the press office said in a statement.

ULAN BATOR, Nov 1 (NNN-XINHUA) – Mongolia’s National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, today issued a warning of blizzards and a cold wave that will affect western and central parts of the country.
Volatile weather is expected to start today, and continue in the next few days, causing icy roads and poor visibility on roads, the weather monitoring agency said.
It warned the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters.
ULAN BATOR, Oct 13 (NNN-XINHUA) – Mongolian Prime Minister, Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, has confirmed the appointment of Khishgee Nyambaatar, as the new mayor of Ulan Bator, the country’s capital, said the government’s press office, today.
Prior to his appointment, Nyambaatar served as minister of justice and internal affairs of Mongolia.
Nyambaatar replaced Dolgorsuren Sumiyabazar, who has recently presented his resignation, due to a scandal involving the reform of the public transport fleet in Ulan Bator, that has embezzled public funds.

As of Sept, Mongolia’s average gold purchase price had been 213,818.68 Mongolian tugriks (about 62 U.S. dollars) per gram, the Bank of Mongolia said in a statement.

ULAANBAATAR, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Pope Francis on Monday wrapped up a historic trip to Mongolia which took on international connotations because of his overtures to its neighbour China over freedom of religion.
