Iran says half its population has been vaccinated against Covid

21 Nov 2021; MEMO: Iran claimed 44 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, The New Arab reported.

The country of 85 million people has been hit particularly hard by the global pandemic, which has recorded 128,000 Covid deaths, and has the highest numbers in the Middle East.

The health ministry said it recorded 118 new deaths, and 3,500 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Russian delegation discusses situation in Syria with Iranian top diplomat

TEHRAN, November 21. /TASS/: Russian presidential special envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Teheran to discuss the situation in Syria, the press service of the Iranian foreign ministry said on Sunday.

"After a visit to Damascus, Lavrentyev and Vershinin arrived in Teheran, where they met with the Iranian foreign minister," it said, adding that the Russian delegation held talks on the bilateral relations and regional cooperation, including on Syria.

Iran Condemns UK’s Decision To Blacklist Palestine’s Hamas

TEHRAN, Nov 21 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, has condemned Britain’s decision, to declare the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) a terrorist organisation.

“The political solution for Palestine lies in a referendum, among the indigenous residents (Muslim, Jewish, and Christian),” Abdollahian wrote in a tweet, shortly before midnight on Friday.

“The rights of Palestinians cannot be trampled by distorting facts,” he said.

Cyberattack on Iran's Mahan Airlines thwarted: official

TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- A cyberattack on Iran's Mahan Airlines has been repelled, an official of the airline announced on Sunday.

Amir Hossein Zolanvari, manager of public relations of Mahan Airlines, confirmed to the official IRNA news agency the cyberattack earlier on the day, saying "this is not a new issue. Such attacks have occurred before and each time the situation has been controlled by the company."

The Mahan cyber security team acted "smartly and timely to thwart the attack," he was quoted as saying.

IRGC commander says 9 killed in "direct battle" with U.S. forces in Gulf

TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has had a number of "direct battles" with the U.S. forces in the Gulf, in which nine of its forces have been "martyred," Alireza Tangsiri, the navy commander of the IRGC, announced on Sunday.

Tangsiri said the nine soldiers died to "defend the territory of our beloved country," adding the IRGC has made the United States realize the "sovereignty of the Islamic republic in the maritime arena."

Iran's Mahan Air says its has foiled a cyber attack

21 Nov 2021; MEMO: A cyber attack against Iranian private airline Mahan Air has been foiled, Iranian state media reported on Sunday, adding that the airliner's flight schedule was not affected by the attack, Reuters reported.

The carrier, blacklisted by Washington in 2011 over support it provided to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said in a statement that it had faced similar attacks in the past, adding that its "internal system" had been targeted.

Iran says 44 million fully vaccinated, half its population

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran announced Saturday it has now fully vaccinated 44 million people, more than half of its population of 85 million. The country has been hit the worst by the pandemic in the Middle East.

The health ministry said the 44 million received two doses of the vaccine. Iran has recorded at least 128,000 deaths since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The ministry also announced that there have been more than 3,500 new cases of infections in the past 24 hours, as well as 118 deaths.

Iran ready to conclude long-term comprehensive cooperation agreement with Russia — Raisi

TEHRAN, November 16. /TASS/: The Iranian side is ready to conclude a long-term agreement on comprehensive cooperation with Russia, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said during a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. 

"We are ready to conclude the document on long-term comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in order to accelerate the process of the further expansion of bilateral interaction," the presidential press service quoted the Iranian leader as saying.

Iran, Turkey agree to develop "cooperation roadmap", vow to boost all-out ties

TEHRAN, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Iranian foreign minister and his visiting Turkish counterpart on Monday agreed on designing a long-term "cooperation roadmap" and vowed to further comprehensive ties.

At the joint press conference held in the capital Tehran, the Iranian Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that during the Monday talks, both sides agreed to draw up a new roadmap for a long-term cooperation between Tehran and Ankara.
