06 Aug 2020; MEMO: Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, has called for the repercussions of the explosion that devastated the port of the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday.

Rouhani described the explosion as a “tragic accident that caused deep sadness in Iran”.

In a message sent to his Lebanese counterpart, Michel Aoun, yesterday, the Iranian president expressed his country’s readiness to send medical aid to Lebanon, treat the wounded and provide any other necessary help.

TEHRAN, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Iran has started sending food, medicine and medical equipment to Lebanon, after the huge explosions at Beirut's port, Press TV reported on Wednesday.

Iran's Red Crescent Society (IRCS) spokesman Mohammad Nasiri announced the shipment of 2,000 packages of food, weighing 9 tonnes, to Lebanon, together with medicines, medical equipment and professionals.

Two cargoes are expected to arrive in Beirut on Wednesday, after a first load of Iranian aid was delivered the day before, shortly after the blast.

05 Aug 2020; MEMO: The leader of a US-based Iranian opposition group has been abducted by Iran while he was staying in Dubai, says his family. The group is designated as a terrorist organisation by Tehran, AP has reported.

05 Aug 2020; MEMO: A massive fire broke out yesterday inside an industrial zone in the Iranian capital of Tehran, state television reported.

The flames ripped through three warehouses in Jajrud, around 25 kilometres outside of the capital, around 7am yesterday.

The fire affected warehouses used to store manufacturing goods, including wood and leather.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

03 Aug 2020; MEMO: Iran announced Sunday that it has imposed economic sanctions on a former US expert for playing an active role in Washington’s “economic terrorism against the interests of the Islamic Republic and its citizens”, reports Anadolu Agency.

Richard Goldberg, a former member of the White House National Security Council, now works with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), a Washington think tank.

TEHRAN, August 2. /TASS/: Chairman of the Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s press service said on Sunday.

"Slutsky noted that the visit during the coronavirus pandemic was explained by the level of relations between the two countries and the need to discuss important issues," according to the statement.

02 Aug 2020; MEMO: Iranian teams have cleaned up an oil slick near field in the northern region of the Gulf that had extended over a six-square-km (2.3 square mile) area, an Iranian maritime official said on Saturday according to a report by Reuters.

The cause of the spill, which occurred on Wednesday, was being investigated, the director general of ports and maritime in Iran’s Bushehr Province, Siavash Arjomandzadeh, told the official IRNA news agency.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran on Saturday said it detained an Iranian-American leader of a little-known California-based militant opposition group for allegedly planning a 2008 attack on a mosque that killed 14 people and wounded over 200 others.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry also alleged Jamshid Sharmahd of the Kingdom Assembly of Iran planned other attacks around the Islamic Republic amid heightened tensions between Tehran and the U.S. over its collapsing 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

TEHRAN, July 31 (NNN-IRNA) — Iran’s Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on ّFriday that some 197 more Iranians have died from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours.

The spokeswoman said that, with the 197 new deaths, the country’s total COVID-19 death toll mounted to 16,766.

Some 2,674 new cases of infection to COVID-19 were found over the past 24 hours, some 1,523 of whom have been hospitalized, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Lari saying.
