BERLIN, April 8. /TASS/: Several thousand people participated in a mass rally against weapon deliveries to the Kiev regime and for peace talks for the swiftest settlement of the Ukrainian conflict in Berlin on Saturday.
The rally was held within the framework of Easter peace marches that take place annually in various German cities. Such rallies express protest against NATO activities, wars and the use of weapons, a TASS correspondent reports.
According to organizers from the Friedenskooperative national network, about 3,000 people were participating. The rally kicked off at 1 p.m. (2 p.m. Moscow time) in one of the squares in Berlin’s Wedding neighborhood where a makeshift stage was set up. The demonstrators then marched down Wedding’s central street bearing signs with slogans "For cooperation and friendship with Russia," "Peace - now," "Diplomacy, not arms," "US and NATO - go away from Ukraine," "Against senseless sanctions, cheap energy now," and "Tanks never bring peace." Security was ensured by local law enforcement.
According to the organizers, the traditional Easter marches are planned in more than 100 German cities and towns with the central theme being the current conflict in Ukraine, the threat of a nuclear war and protests against military expenditures. They stressed that "daily deaths and slaughter must stop." "The German government should finally become more active and launch peace initiatives," the network stressed calling for a ceasefire, peace talks and Germany’s participation in "China’s peace initiative.".
