NOUAKCHOTT, February 8. /TASS/: Moscow and Nouakchott consider it necessary to boost economic ties, especially direct communication between business companies of the two countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday after a meeting with President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.
"We had a very interesting, intensive talk with the President of Mauritania, with the participation of the Foreign Minister and presidential aides. We discussed first of all the status of our bilateral relations. We agreed to properly commemorate the upcoming jubilee next year - the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties. That period was rich in intensive cooperation in a variety of different spheres: the trade and economic sphere, humanitarian, educational, and, certainly, in the foreign policy sphere," Lavrov said.
"We have a common understanding of the need to ramp up economic ties, primarily direct connections between our business companies. In this context, Mauritanian economic operators are interested in proactive participation in the Russia-Africa business forum, which will precede the second Russia-Africa summit scheduled for late July in St. Petersburg," the Russian top diplomat added.
