Tehran (ISNA) – For the first time, Iran has begun enriching uranium to 60% purity at Fordow nuclear facility.

The move came in response to the recent anti-Iran resolution adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s Board of Governors.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced on Tuesday that stockpiles of uranium enriched up to 60% had increased at Fordow facility.

It also added that a new generation of IR-6 centrifuges had replaced older machines in Fordow to enable a massive ramp-up in output.

Iran also installed two new IR2M and IR4 cascades at the Natanz facility.

Iranian Foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani had announce on Sunday that in response to the latest action of the three European countries and the United States, namely the passing of a resolution against Iran in the agency’s Board of Governors, a number of measures were put on the agenda of the AEOI and their implementation was carried out in the enrichment complexes of Martyr Ahmadi in Natanz and Martyr Alimohammadi complex in Fordow in the presence of the IAEA’s inspectors.
