India: Underground work on Kanpur Metro Sec-1 moves on top-down format

Metro Kanpur

Kanpur: Work on the underground section-I of the Kanpur Metro is being progressed in a top-down format.

This hints at the construction of the top level is being done first and the downward levels will be built accordingly.

To put it simply, the construction of the concourse level and then the platform level will begin only after the roof slab is done and the road barricades are reduced.

The plan will permit the vehicles to move smoothly on the road while the construction of the lower grounds continues side by side.

Officials inform that this system of work progression will least affect the traffic. It is a problem that was identified during the construction of the already operational Priority Corridor here.

It may be noted here that once Corridor-I is complete, it will work in extension of the elevated Priority Corridor.

The entire route has been planned to elongate as a 23 km long line from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta.

The goal is to complete the work here within deadlines, informs the UPMRC MD.
