A Deputy Superintendent of Police has been killed in an exchange of fire in Jammu and Kashmir, police official said.
Taking to Twitter, police had earlier said, “Exchange of fire at Turigam, Kulgam. Security forces on job. Details will follow.”
According to The Indian Express, police Cordoned an area for a Search Operation based on inputs about presence of separatist militants. Search Operation was jointly launched by police and Indian security forces.
“As searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The security forces retaliated leading to a gunfight”, police said. It appears that the Deputy Superintendent of Police Aman Thakur was killed in the exchange of fire.
