12 Oct 2021; MEMO: A Lebanese court yesterday sentenced four Lebanese to 15 years in prison in addition to hard labour over "dealing with the Israeli enemy and obtaining Israeli IDs" without the state's permission, local media reported.
The panel of the Permanent Military Court, headed by Brigadier General Mounir Shehadeh, declared its verdict which stated that George Abdullah Abu Eid, Sidi Tanios Abu Khair, Samira Hussein Suleiman, Sumayya Fares Judiyah, Mireille George Abu Eid (a minor), Elias George Abu Eid (a minor), Christian George Abu Eid (a minor) and Patrick George Abu Eid (a minor) had dealt with "the Israeli enemy and obtained Israeli IDs."
The verdict also stated that these people "entered the occupied Palestinian territories without the permission of the Lebanese government."
George Abu Eid, Samira Suleiman and Sumayya Judiyah were handed jail terms of 15 years, stripping of their civil rights and fined one million Lebanese liras ($663).
The minors had their cases handed over to the juvenile courts.
Some of the defendants were tried in absentia, however authorities did not name them.
