India: Instructing centres offer culinary courses in Kanpur & 9 other districts

Kanpur: The Food Processing Department in Uttar Pradesh has set up Government Food Science Training Centres in 10 districts including Kanpur. Therefore the city youths have an opportunity to develop skills in culinary activities.

This kind of institute offers specialised diploma courses in a range of culinary activities to stimulate employment within the hospitality sector.

The training centres have been set up in 10 districts of UP. The one-year diploma courses feature trades of food processing, culinary arts, bakery and confectionery to train over 1000 beneficiaries every year.

The state government has been training the youth at the State Food Science Training Centres for the past 4.5 years.

A total of 609 students have been trained in one-year food processing trade diploma while 597 got skilled in the one-year bakery and confectionery trade diploma.

Besides, 598 were a part of a one-year culinary arts trade diploma.

The number of seats in the MSc Food Technology course has been increased.
