India: SP MLA from Kanpur calls for prayer room in Assembly

Kanpur: On the pattern of Bihar, Jharkhand and Maharashtra, one MLA Irfan Solanki of Samajwadi Party has raised the demand for a separate prayer room in UP Assembly premises.

When the assembly remains in the session, the Muslim legislatures attend it and due to the paucity of space, they have to move out for the prayer outside the precincts of the Assembly. This results in a wastage of time.

He has written a letter to the Assembly Speaker Hridya Narayan Dixit in this respect. He said: I have written a letter to Speaker Hridaya Narayan Dixit to allot a prayer room for Muslim Legislatures in the Assembly area.

He even gave examples of Bihar, Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
